Our Program

Our Mission

To foster the growth and development of our pharmacy residents as they become proficient in providing comprehensive patient care through excellence in precepting, teaching, mentoring and patient care

Program Description

The Interior Health Pharmacy Residency Program is a 52-week experiential learning program that focuses on developing and refining clinical, interprofessional, pharmacy practice, project management and leadership skills to prepare the resident for a career in pharmacy practice.  This Year 1 residency program builds upon the competencies of an accredited entry-to-practice professional degree program in pharmacy.

The large variety of direct patient care, operational and management and leadership rotations that our residents complete, as well as the other residency activities offered, ensures that residents have as broad and dynamic a learning experience as possible, with the goal of the resident being able to proficiently provide comprehensive patient care in diverse practice settings.  The majority of the residency rotations and activities take place at Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna and Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.  Residents also have the opportunity to complete rotations at other hospitals and sites in Interior Health, allowing residents to experience patient care in both urban and rural practice settings.  These sites include Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson and Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Penticton Regional Hospital and Kootenay Boundary Hospital in Trail.
